Team Menfes and the Saitama Broncos of the BJ-League in Japan came to terms for Menfes to become the teams Official Supplier for the 2012-13 Season. The BJ-League season starts in October and goes for 52 games through April, while the playoffs are in May. The Broncos have acquired AND 1 players John Helicopter Humphrey and Antwan Smith to lead the charge. Saitama GM Narita has noted the Broncos have inked a 2-year deal with regional cable provider J-Net TV to air the Broncos in their own show each day.
Saitama and UPG CEO Jerone Dodd Jr. have history as well. “Saitama was the first team I played for professionally in Japan back in 2004 – 05 and it is quite fitting that things have come full circle and we are still working together on another level. We look forward to working closely with Saitama to capitalize on our mutual and respective strengths and current market opportunities.”
Saitama along with Niigata were the foundational teams to form the Bj-League and one of the four inaugural teams for the 2005-06 season. The Broncos have yet to produce a championship caliber team in the bj-league’s 8 year history but have managed to stay competitive and maintain a strong fan base in the Saitama prefectural area.
