After months of discussion and working out the feasibility and interest, UPG and Brandon Hall team up to bring a new technology class to the curriculum. “Last summer’s talks with technology director, Kurt Michelsen, have yielded favorable results. We were able to provide the expertise to service and source a suitable person to take over these duties,” said CEO, Jerone Dodd Jr.
After surveying the student body to gain insight into the interest of the different technical disciplines of gaming development, the groundwork was laid to start the course in the 2nd semester. The course, considered a survey course, covers not one, but several software related to design, animation and 3D modeling. There will also be tutorial information available for potential programmers interested in gaining more knowledge and experience in Python and Java.
Dodd also noted that “The future appears ripe for exploring more of these types of opportunities and really combining our forces to do something special for the students and give them a head start in these technical fields, in an industry where the demand currently outpaces the supply of solid technicians.”
